Walt Nauta, a longtime aide to former President Donald Trump, who pleaded not guilty to charges related to Trump’s handling of classified documents. Nauta is facing six counts, including conspiracy to obstruct justice and making false statements. The arraignment in Miami was delayed multiple times due to Nauta’s difficulty in obtaining local counsel. Trump’s attorney entered the plea on Nauta’s behalf, and a jury trial was requested. Nauta barely spoke during the hearing. The judge addressed a registration issue and stated that more proceedings were scheduled. Nauta left the courthouse without making any comments to reporters. Previously, Trump had pleaded not guilty to similar charges. Prosecutors allege that Nauta moved boxes containing classified documents at Trump’s direction to prevent them from being turned over to authorities. Nauta had served in the Navy and worked in the Trump White House before becoming Trump’s executive assistant in Florida.
